Childcare subsidies make it easier for parents to participate in the workforce, yet only 1 in 9 eligible children in Stanislaus County receives support. To ensure that families have access to affordable, high-quality childcare, we established a Childcare Subsidy Design Team to help unlock bottlenecks in the system.
This cross-agency team conducted empathy interviews with parents to develop first hand insights into the factors supporting and impeding access to subsidies and guidance. Over the course of four sessions the team developed concepts and solutions along with an action plan to maximize the number of families enrolling in child care financial assistance programs in priority zip codes across Stanislaus County.
